Athena

I had a Greek mythology phase in middle and high school which led to a lifelong love of Athena. Of course I wasn't going to pass up a chance to "dress up" as her for this project. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, handicraft, and war. I am not as into the war part, but an arts-and-crafts loving nerd, I related to her. She was a role model for me, especially as a girl.

As a kid, I loved D'Aulaire's book of Greek Myths, but I think my real Athena fandom came from the book We Goddesses: Athena, Aphrodite, Hera, which in retrospect was a formative read.

This image is from a kylix, which is a big wide Greek drinking vessel. They're really cool to look at if you see them in the Ancient Greece section of museums.
