Mujer en Azul

Picasso is one of the most famous artists of our time, so I seeked out something of his to copy. I think I chose this one because it's so strange and almost ugly. The woman's clothes are exaggerated and clown-like, and she has such a pugnacious expression on her face. Maybe I identified with the disquieting feeling she gives off. I was traveling, trying to get this done (because I was still aiming for one per day), hungry, disoriented and feeling slightly off. When I look at this I remember eating calamari alone in a nook of a rooftop bar and drawing on my iPad in the dark.
