This painting is very famous. I didn't know very much about it this first time I painted it, just that it was iconic and recognizable. I thought that maybe by painting myself as this archetype of beauty, I could confer some of that mystique on myself.
You can see I'm still reinterpreting the original image a bit--I have a messy bun instead of a classy neat one like in the original painting.
Toward the end of the project, I redid old entries to compare progress and give the original artworks their proper due. You can see my redo of Madame X at entry 96.
