At the Dressing Table

I love this painting so much, and it's by an artist I had never heard of and still don't know much about, Zinaida Serebriakova. I came across it somehow on, I think, Twitter. (I follow tons of artbots there which sometimes retweet each other and are great for breaking up my feed and serving me some random inspiration.) All of Serebriakova's portraits are full of life. Her figures look like they're going to step out of the paintings and start talking to you. I would love to know more about her.

Luckily, this particular painting has a Wikipedia page with a bit of information. She did this painting when she was 25, bored and stuck inside during the winter. It launched her into the public sphere and started her career as an artist. Not hard to see why since it is absolutely delightful.
