As I was looking through fashion plates for this segment of my project, I fell in love with the work of André Édouard Marty. His plates are so well-designed and often feature backlit figures which creates a really nice effect. It allowed him to get across a sense of lighting even though most printed fashion plates of this time needed to use flat areas of color due to the stencil-based process used to produce them.
I liked the light in this, the outfits themselves, and the fact that it would let me draw myself twice which I always find funny.
This is the last "flat color" style painting I did in my set of ten. For the next ten entries, I decided to change themes.
