This entry sticks out to me among all 100. In this one, I was finally ready to spend more serious time on an entry and decided to try to give a good solid try to this iconic painting. It's pretty and whimsical, with all kinds of fun details like the cupid statues in the background and the lady's shoe flung up into the air. I remember being really happy with this when I first finished it, and I still like it. I think this might be the first entry where I surpassed my own expectations and started to feel some drawing improvement.
I first came across this painting as an inspiration for the Disney movie Tangled. Later I learned from the Met's exhibition Inspiring Walt Disney: The Animation of French Decorative Arts that it was also used as inspiration for Beauty and the Beast. It has a jaunty fairy tale feel to it which makes a lot of sense for Disney's vibe.
